Regal Peleș Castle in the Carpathian Mountains
Nestled amidst lush forests at an elevation of over 1,300 meters above sea level sits the majestic Peleș Castle – a masterpiece of Neo-Renaissance architecture that stands as one of the most visited landmarks within the historic town of Sinaia, Romania. This castle was built between 1872 to 1914 for King Carol I during his reign from 1866 until he abdicated after World War One. It is adorned with intricate wood carvings depicting scenes inspired by Romanian folklore along its walls; it also houses numerous collections including armor, weapons, musical instruments among others. A notable feature includes the royal chapel which has frescoes painted directly onto the stone surfaces without any preparatory drawings or sketches.
