Statue of Hercules in Front of Charlottenburg Palace

A dynamic statue of the mythological hero Hercules stands proudly atop an ornate pedestal to the left side of this image. He is captured mid-stride as he wields his club and shield, ready for battle or laborious task. Behind him looms the magnificent Charlottenburg Palace under a clear blue sky dotted with wispy clouds. This Baroque masterpiece was built by Queen Sophie Charlotte between 1695–1708 after her husband became Elector Frederick III who later ascended to become King Frederick I of Prussia. The palace's green dome topped off with gilded statues adds grandeur against the serene backdrop of nature.
