Perched atop a rocky cliff overlooking the Târnava Mare River valley near Alba Iulia city center stands the majestic Hunyad Castle (Castelul Huniade). This medieval fortress is renowned for its Gothic Revival architecture that blends with fortified Renaissance elements. It was built between 1402–1410 by King Sigismund of Luxembourg upon orders from his son Vlad III Dracula to protect against Ottoman invasions.
